September Happenings

September is the month for the Relief Society Broadcast.

To celebrate our own conference, the Gardendale Relief Society will be hosting a sit down dinner to feed our bodies before we feed our spirits.

September 26th

6 pm Dinner

7 PM Broadcast

Please come to a feast for the mind, body, and spirit.

September 29th will be our first LUNCH BUNCH.

Bring a dish to the church at 11:30 to share.

June Enrichment

Sorry to those who still check this blog. I'm officially back in town and ready to roll.

June enrichment is scheduled for Tuesday, the 16th, at 6:30pm.

With the kids being out of school for the summer, we still want to keep their minds sharp and what better way to do that than reading? But with all the books out there, how are we to know which they will enjoy and which will uplift? Well...bring your favorite children's book as well as a list of your favorite children's books to enrichment and we will share our knowledge with each other. And who doesn't want to be known as the Grandma who reads the BEST stories?

Get there before 6:30 pm and you will be entered into the early bird special drawing.

Oh, and of course there will be a themed treat!

Let Them Eat Cake

And We Did!Chelsea Anderson hosted April's Cooking Club Meeting overflowing with sweet success!

The theme was cake and what a wonderful lunch it made! Cakes ranged from mint pudding cake to dark chocolate with orange butter cream. Melissa Hodgen displays a Chocolate Malt Cake with Cherry Vanilla Frosting and a Coconut Cream Cake

Araksya's Red Grapefruit cake was a hit!

A demonstration of the 5 minute cake provided everyone with a recipe for a quick chocolate cake fix.

Next Cooking Club Meeting

LET THEM EAT CAKEOur Cooking Club will be meeting on April 7th at Chelsea Anderson's house at 11:00 am. The theme will be CAKE. Make your specialty cake and bring a copy of the recipe. Hopefully we can "cake swap" the leftovers.

Our 1st Produce Co Op Success

We had a great field trip to the Alabama Farmers Market despite a slight drizzle of rain. Look what $5 dollars can get you! Yummy.

Produce Co Op Ops

Ops, we didn't realize we had rescheduled the field trip for Saturday, March 7th, which is stake "family day" when we are to have no activities and enjoy uninterrupted time with our families. We'll re-reschedule for next Saturday, March 14th. We will set a time for before or after the Stake Enrichment meeting. A post with the time will follow.

Field Trip attempt #2

Just a reminder that the Produce Co Op will make it's second attempt at a field trip to the Alabama Farmer's Market this Saturday, March 7th. We will meet at the church at 9 am and carpool from there.

Please bring 2 $5 bills as we will be shopping while there and collecting the other $5 for those shopping next.

We will also be establishing a blog just for the co op, which will feature our schedule, pick up dates/times, as well as recipes to use our newly acquired produce!

We're Starting a Cooking Club!

We will be holding our first cooking club meeting on March 10th at 11:30 am. Araksya Kennard will be our hostess and the theme will be soups.

Please bring your favorite soup dish to share as well as copies of the recipe to exchange.

If you would like to come, please look for the sign up sheet on Sundays. If you would like to host (provide your home) for a future club meeting, please note which month you are able to welcome the sisters into your home. We are also looking for someone who's willing to head up our newest club. Let me know if you are interested!

Feb HFPE

This months HFPE will be Tuesday, February 24th. We will be crossing the parking lot to the Birmingham Temple. Sessions include

Initiatory 6 pm (please be there by 5:45)*

Endowment 6 pm (the earlier the better)**

Baptisms 7 pm (for those who desire or are not endowed)

Please look for the sign up sheet on Sunday.
Babysitting will be provided for the 6 pm sessions
*There are limited spaces in the initiatory so make sure you sign up to guarantee your spot
**This is the first day the temple is reopen. There is a potential for a crowd.

Produce Co Op Field Trip

We've changed the time of our Produce Co Op Field trip to 9:00 am on Feb 28th. We will still be meeting at the church and car pooling to the Alabama Farmer's Market for our orientation.
